Birthday Tribute: Neve Campbell

No one had tried for a million years to make a cheeky teenfun horror movie (kinda like Clueless but with a gnarly demise for all) and then Wes Craven did, and then EVERYONE DID and it stopped being fun, it started being annoying (save for The Faculty which is a HIGHLIGHT of the era, TRUST!)

But before it was annoying..Poor Sidney Prescott was being hunted !!!! And although Party of Five was beloved by many, I LOVE YOU, NEVE CAMPBELL, for Scream (and its multiple sequels).

PS, It may be too long ago for many of you young'uns to know/remember but it was sort of awesome to have Drew Barrymore be in the first scene- she was a crazy naked posing Dave Letterman tittie-flasher with random movies at this point..I feel like Scream re-legitimized her? (I mean really, I hope she sends Wes Craven a bloody fruit basket every year as a thank you).

But back to Neve: HAPPY BIRTHDAY and I can't wait to see your freckles and semi-stuttery indignance in Scream 4 (out in April 2011).

I've been watching Party of Five through Netflix for the past couple of months. And then I re-found my copy of the Craft. I love her so much! & I had no idea there was going to be a Scream 4!

Ok, I know this is about Neve, but Scream is the reason why I can't take Skeet Ulrich seriously as a detective on Law & Order LA...

omg, bonnie from the craft! i remember my sister & her friends watching scream for my sister's birthday party when i was maybe in kindergarten and i wasn't allowed to join (one of the only elementary school moments i can recall where my parents had any idea of censorship. i watched king of the hill by myself from 1st-2nd grade and saw not another teen movie when i was 7.)

but now i know what movie to watch on halloween.

I loved Scream when it first came out and I was way too young to get how clever it was, and I became re-obsessed last Summer during a crazy Australian heatwave. I'm excited but skeptical of S4: SRSLY, WES, HOW MUCH MORE CAN SIDNEY TAKE!?

PS- Drew Barrymore burning her Jiffy Pop is an iconic 90s moment if there ever was one.

haha

you are so right about drew being the first to die. i remember eating frozen lemonade out of the carton (yuck!) watching that at my best frenemy's house (we rented it every other weekend when she'd be at her dad's house) debating on whether or not it was smart of wes craven to make her the first to die. it WAS smart. EVERYONE was talking about it haha. not to mention we all had that same cordless phone she dragged around with her breathlessly yelling, "mooooooom..."

"shut up you little bitch or i'll gut you like a fish!"

RANDOM: I just realized the Scream guy is the guy kids always dressed up as for Halloween in elementary school and the rich ones got the costumes with little pumpy things that you'd squeeze and the mask would fill with fake blood
