This year I had a really hard time decided what I wanted to be. Last year I was a piece of paper, and the year before I was a door nob. So this year I decided I either wanted to be Anna Wintour or Queen Victoria the 1st. But ultimately decided I would be a cup of coffee.

My name is Candice, but I've always gone by Candy...so I'm going to be a Candice Corn for my fave holiday! Plus, growing up as Candy Fudge (yes, Fudge is my maiden name -- yes, my parents did it on purpose -- yes, drugs were involved) is a 24/7 Halloween costume in itself!

I'm gonna be Hermione. Yes, from Harry Potter. I have the frizzy hair for it! And I found a cheap-ass Gryffindor patch on ebay. Planning on hitting the thrift stores for the rest of the costume this weekend. I could also be a unicorn, as I was last year (homemade papier-mache glitter horns are cool!)

I'm going as Etch-a-Sketch, made out of a box, painted red, paper bowls for the knobs, and either a white board or chalk board in the middle for the screen

My babe and I are going to be Zombied Minni and Mickey Mouse, I'm even making my hair into a bow and using Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton bunny ears as inspiration for our mouse ears. I just finished our tails and finished altering a red polka dot skirt i got from the thrift a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to wear this black sheer short sleeved button down that has a ruffle down the middle. I got the idea for us to be these cute mice because Christopher always teases me about my love for apple fritters, so he always says "Golly i hope they have apple friters" in Mickeys voice ;p what a goob! And than the zombie idea came along while we were watching White Zombie... it wouldnt be Halloween with out some zombies!

Oh lord, what a question. You'd think I know by now.

Well I think I've got one; I'm going as a paper doll. I thought of this in the moment between sleeping and waking one morning. It's good for us indecisive folks as you can change your outfit so very easily! ;)

I'm making myself a panda bear costume.

halenalynn said...

Hello,

This year I will be a Chola for Halloween. That is all.

Bella said...

Oh hai. Haha. I'm going to be a porcelain doll. I'm going to wear an old-fashioned white nightdress-style dress with lace detailing, a full petticoat, bloomers, white lacy gloves, a silk sash around the waist of the dress, a ribbon in my hair, my hair is going to be stiff with hairspray and curled to look like doll's hair, creepy doll lashes and eye makeup, eerie skin, and 'cloth' arms and legs. Also, tiny painted lips and rouge circles on my cheeks a la this Lula scrapbook pic (the statue one): http://www.lulamag.com/scrapbook/?page=6
I'm going for a creepy/eerie unused, bitter doll look. So, yeah. Not scary/horror, more eerie and makes-you-uneasy. Kind on like Christopher Kane's Spring 2010 collection.

Remember Mac Tonight, that shill from the creepy old McDonald's ads? Dude was as smooth as Joe cool and Joe camel, but with a huge Moon head. Bluesy singer. Google him; you'll remember! This costume is totally DIY and I'm excited!

my sister and i challenged each other to be obscure cartoon characters at a family halloween party we're going to (hopefully). i'm going with blanky from the brave little toaster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TotzYFolXmg the costume will consist of a big yellow blanket draped over me like a huge-ass poncho. and then a white box over my head. with my face being the "button" or whatever. ahahaha. everyone else at the party will think i'm a freak & have no idea what i'm supposed to be. but childhood-me will be proud. because blanky was always one of my favorite characters.

i'm gonna be barbarella, but in her wacky skunk pelt costume that she wears after being bitten by tiny dolls and rescued by the catch man. going to hit up the garment district for so faux fur, swaddle myself in it, work some bed (ah-hem sex) hair, look doe eyed and play cool. i really wanna find some rad silver platform boots, but i'm not counting on it. but cross your fingers!

In my dream Halloween sequence, I will be dressed as Warren Jeffs with all of my female friends dressed as all of the wives, each carrying one or two cabbage patch dolls. I attempted to make this happen 2 years ago, but everyone bailed because it was at the height of the whole polygamy scandal (which is surprisingly en vogue right now...)

Kiki from Kiki's delivery service. Or maybe a goth kiki (the 'dress' I'm using has lace and I've been wanting to try black lipstick for a while now..) I know that pretty much every Asian girl (or at least the ones that I know) was her when they were little but...it's simple and this past month has been stressful. My original idea was going to be, to go with the Miyazaki theme, no-face 'eating' kiki

I love halloween so I am doing a couple days of halloween with day and night looks instead of just one costume. and also because hween falls on Sunday this year, so lots of parties. The outfits (in order) will be: Mary Mary Quite Contrary; vintage Nurse; Sailor Moon; one of those flapper girls who sold concessions from those boxes attached to their front; crime scene. but the order might change.

The other day I wore an outfit that my husband said reminded him of a sexy Han Solo. When I told the world about this through twitter and flickr, I misspelled it and wrote Hans Solo.

So I'm turning my fuck-up into my Halloween costume and will pair af makeshift dirndl, vest and blaster. My husband is considering being Jewbacca.

The past few years I've enjoyed dressing up as inanimate objects... This year, I'm going to be a cupcake. I've constructed a pleated dress out of pink striped fabric & covered the top of a bra with fiber-fill for the frosting. I think I'm going to work on a frosting hat too...

Short answer: I'm going to be vampire Subaru from Tsubasa. Yay for crossdressing costumes.

I'm going as Ozma of Oz. As much as I love the emerald green dress in the movie, I'm kind of into the art deco-inspired drawings of Ozma from the books, so I'm taking that angle. With the beflowered Oz crown and ruby slippers of course.

Rachel said...

I'm going as a mime. Either black skinny jeans with a black and white striped top and suspenders, or a black and white striped boatneck mini dress with black tights. Either would be worn with black oxfords, all my hair except bangs pulled back into a low bun and perhaps a beret or bowler hat. I will carry a black umbrella and of course, do the black and white mime makeup. I'm going to try to mime everything all day, but so far all I've figured out how to do is ask for a drink. Should be useful, right??

I'm going to be going as a ringleader - but don't let your mind wander too far down Britney Boulevard! I'm going for more of a Vince Noir's Electro Circus type look rather than the alternative.

I bought an absurd 80's polyester suit, vibrant lipsticky red with military buttons and teal paisley trim (it's ridiculous. I'M IN LOVE). I cut up the skirt of the suit in order to extend the jacket flaps in the back and used some of the skirt's paisley lining to put around the trim of the top hat as well. I've got a black miniskirt/white cami combo going on, and I'm on the lookout for a totally sick ascot to pair with it, because...well, I don't know. It's Halloween. Why would I NOT want to wear an ascot? Big hair (HUGE detail), black tights with the mini polka dots, and a pair of flat black brogues to finish it off (too much dancing to be done to suffer with heels on). I'm also on the lookout for some sort of whip or pointer-stick thing that's the perfect combo of "Oh, look, I'm the ringleader!" without being too... uh, gimp-like. We'll see how it works out!

Cassandra said...

Wearing a vintage flared sequined tank top (probably some sort of tap costume originally?) and tiered lace miniskirt and cowboy boots, all black, sewing glittery black plastic crows on the skirt, painting a line of lipstick across my neck, and going as "a murder."
