I wore mine buttoned up which made me feel a little bit mod? Maybe sorta British? So I wore red lips and cat-eye sunglasses, because what else do you do? (Short of getting a vespa)

Ankle boots: Prada

How insane is this dress?! I imagine it was made by an intrepid amateur tightrope walker, to wear for her audition for Ringling Bros. Absolutely nothing else makes sense.

The boots were purchased at a sample sale a million years ago and I still pat myself on the back for that one- they're comfortable, don't give me cankles, AND they make me tall (all the necessary criteria for an ankle boot).

Bare lip! Sometimes high heels, short dress AND a red lip are too much. You should usually just have 2 of those 3 at one time.

Nail Polish: Essie Bermuda Shorts

I ran into a super snazzy FASHUN FRIEND last week and he was wearing a cardigan OVER a denim jacket, with his watch OVER the cardigan.

I stole his move. It looks kinda rad this way?

Getting a watch is good; since we ditched cable I never know what time it is in the apartment. I also like to look at it and say "Would you LOOK at the TIME?! DELIGHTFUL to see you, but I must be going." It's a classy way to make an exit (even at Duane Reade).

Musical Appreciation: Das Racist / Return to Innocence

Am I the only one that doesn't mind waking up to rainy days? I have no idea why, since the it's the kind of weather that isn't exactly kind to my particular look but whatevs. I like it!

If you've followed this blog in the past 2 years, you know I have deep love for Das Racist. 
I dig weird dudes who can rap, what can I say. (When the Time Out Most Fashionable New Yawkers issue came out and I was next to Victor on the first page, I was sorta beside myself with glee. Sad but TRU.)

But my nerd alerts aside..this song feels right today for walking around and getting a little wet, which is going to happen to you today so just give in to it.

Any dudes that sample/cover ENIGMA deserve all the fame that they can get... Not only did I have the cassingle, but that episode of My So-Called Life that ends with Return to Innocence always makes me cry. WINS all around!

Digital Insanity: Macaroni Rascals Edition

Field Trip: What Goes Around Comes Around warehouse

Some days are just really really good days, what can I say?
On Monday I had the extreme pleasure of visiting the mega-warehouse NJ outpost of What Goes Around Comes Around with Gala (of Gala Darling) and Carolina (of Fashion Squad) and needless to say...we were a bit excited/elated/overwhelmed.

Although we adapted quite well.

(Mental Note..no posing next to Swedes. Self-esteem can't take it.)

The huge warehouse space is merchandised like the vintage emporium that you (I) always imagined in exists in Heaven (Heaven is full of vintage, obvi. And mink Snuggies, Mark Ronson posters and it's never humid, ever. And coffee flows from fountains and makes your hair look like Blake Lively's. Sorry..got distracted. Where was I?).

I was losing my mind fairly steadily. There were so many kimonos and fur things and Mad Men dresses and military parkas and hats and fur mittens and boots and I mean..

..I really got into THE SPIRIT OF THINGS. Doesn't that hat make me look like José Eber? SEXXY REFERENCE FOR A YOUNG LADY! Victorian capelet, pink kimono, 60s dresses...I just kept trying everything.

THIS HAPPENED:

I would not describe these shoes as "walkable" (we discussed the fact that Mis Naomi herself faceplanted in them on the runway) but really...if you are be photogrpahed? BE PHOTOGRAPHED IN THESE.

Apparently Lady Gaga wanted to buy them but alas they were not her size. WAH WAHHHHH.

GREAT MINDS?
Um..As I was perusing the bag section, there was a glitch in the Matrix. *MY* bag, that I had with me that day (purchased from a Florida thrift about 8 years ago) WAS FOR SALE THERE!

What?!!? Does this HAPPEN? Mine is the bag on the bottom, I added a raccoon tail I bought in Portland. If this is not a sign that this trip was fated, well then I DON'T KNOW.

I FOUND MY SOUL MATE.
In coat form, at least.

I have been searching high and low for the perfect animal print coat. hey used to show up with some sort of frequency in all the usual places, but after Kate Moss wore one..they are bordering on urban legend- SO FAR TO FIND.

Well this one is now mine. It's wool with a cheetah print and I adore it. Double-breasted, 2 pockets, perfect length, perfect fit. Get ready to see a lot of it.

Gala got velvet Pucci column skirts- two! This one and a blues/greens one. GORGE.

And Carolina, as much as she realllly wanted this un-fucking-real bolero, went with the mint condish Pucci sunglasses she is wearing here.

What a day.

It's as if all my psychotic wonderdreams have come true!

SS11!! CLOCKWISE: CHRIS BENZ, LIPS, PROENZA SCHOULER, JIL SANDER, JILSANDER, CHRISTOPHER KANE, MEADHAM KIRCHOFF, PRADA, VERSUS, PROENZA SHOULER. WHOA.

THE FUTURE WILL BE COLORIZED.
Like really REALLY colorized. And we haven't even seen any Paris shows yet. How can it get better? Maybe Balenciaga has pills you can take that turn you highlighter shades that match your clothes and change to the sound of your voice. And make your hair get crazy under a blacklight.

I mean if that happens..that would be better.

Oh oh oh, this season is really full of some seriously DELIGHTFUL stand-outs isn't it?!? I have a giant file, getting bigger by the day, of all the things that are making me giddy for Spring/Summer 2011, and we have not even begun Paris! O HAPPY DAYZ.

This is my kind of a mix. Stripes with ruffles and fur and wedges and prints and a sombrero. And everything is Japanese cotton. And I feel like it should al smell like suntan lotion. I cannot WAIT to go fondle these wares in person (creepy?)

2. BANANAS!

BA-NAY-NAY PRINTSSSSS!!!! Sheeeiittttt..gotta love this. I have been dying for a good bananer print since the Chloé-by-Stella-McCartney banana days, I STILL regret never getting any of that!

Also: Miuccia wearing BANANA EARRINGS! If this was old school Rachel Zoe days, her head might explode: "I die, the bananas are BANANAS, I mean BANANA EARRINGS ARE BANANAS! I die, banana BANANAS. I wish she made BANDANNAS, THAT WOULD BE REALLY BANANAS" Sorta miss those days.

One of the things that really floats my boat is that the curlicue frames give you as perma-eyebrow raise, so you can walk around town always lookin like yr amused by the hoi polloi. GZEEENIUS, MIUCCIA!

Prada made my favorite shoe!!! Mr Noisy's swirly stompy wingtips! IT'S A CHILDHOOD DREAM COME TRUE! Swear to Gaga, I always thought these were the coolest ever, and I have been looking for a reasonable facsimilie for most of my life...I can't believe I found them. You and me Miu, I feel yr references, i FEEL them.

I can't get over how every season she makes me freak out with glee. EVERY. SEASON.

Oh hey, don't mind me- just here agonizing over the details from NYFW. I have a deep intense love for detail shots!!! They make the obsessions so much easier, everything is RIGHT THERE IN YOUR FACE

Currently freaking out over:

1.Proenza Schouler: Mega-jangles, webby fabric, neone-and-brown-leather bag

There is so much to like about the PS show, but what is not to LOVE INSANELY about these things?!?!? Where did this badonkers jangle scene come from?! I want it! It looks like art my parents had in the 80s. SO ERTÉ! And nothing appeals to my interest more than bags with 2 ways to carry, and brown leather with neon. LOVE MUCH!

2. Bibhu Mohapatra: Super circle sunnies

Well. These are certainly PERFECTION, now aren't they?!?! If you ever wanted to look slightly insane and bug-eyed (I DO, I DOOOO), then these are for you (me). I am glad the universe (Besides Karen Walker) is fanlly catching up to PERFECT CIRCLE FRAMES again, they are all I want to wear!!!

3. Oscar de la Renta: Giant scrunchy pink jacket

Would wear with my vintage Osh Kosh B'Gosh overalls dress and old brown boots and fel lke a million bucks, trust.

4. Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte: Wood and Ming vase print (??) and wood and crazytown wedges

These are a no brainer. They are also completely unattainable. But ever since I declined to buy the Miu Miu baroque wedges of FW06 (worst move EVER, self!!) I have been craving a carved up heel! These are that and really then some. The wedges look..dare I say it..fairly walkable?!? 

5. Jeremy Scott: Bodega bag tank

I am 2 seconds away from crafternooning this shit. It would involve a pair of scissors and a humidity-free day. I THINK THIS RULES!

6. Alexander Wang: Geisha Timberland toe boots

I mean they are sort of god awful but I can;t help myself, I am really liking the pinky salmon pair. I am a sucker for the least feminine shoes life has to offer.

7. Alexandre Herchcovitch: patterns and colors and balloon sleeves

I just have a distinct feeling that my life would improve about 600% if I owned this dress. I could probably find a decent facsimile in the thrift store- sometimes those African situations have this sleeve- and maybe I will just get QUILTY on it and square some shiz all over. LOVE the colors, LOVE the shape, LOVEEEE the glasses- negs points for the thumb glove (wah wahhhh)

8. Philip Lim: Shclogs (shoe clogs?)

He kinda out-Comey'd Rachel Comey right here. Pretty fucking covetable (please see my explanation as to my shoe taste in #6).

I couldn't even add Chris Benz in here, because the pictures were too many for one of a list! He deserves his own post of love explosions.
