Thank you, Ladies of The Hairpin, for alerting me to the most gleefully puketastic shoe collab I have ever laid mine eyes upon.
GREY ANT x TEVA !
Have you ever? I never. Well, okay...I guess I sorta have.
They remind me strongly of a late 90s PRADA SPORT vibe (although those were a wedge, I had the WILD PAIR knock-offs, mmkaayyy?).
Really, I hope you aren't rolling your eyes or pretending to dry heave because lest any of you FERGET...Nicolas Ghesquiere loves a practical/unpractical hybrid, with either Legos, hockey helmets or maybe a bike chain thrown together with Velcro and Birkenstock soles. I MEAN WHY NOT, right.
BALENCIAGA F/W 2007
BALENCIAGA S/S 2007
I have been looking for a shoe that not only affords me comfort and a solid grip but also enough height to gain good traction for all my wheelbarrowin' needs.
Well well well. IT'S BEEN A WHILE, hasn't it? I think I needed a minicleanse of the blogging variety; holidays and whatnot..you understand.
But I have missed you, blogging and blogfriends!
So much sharing to be done. I DID take a healthy chunk out of my ringfinger while slicing vegetables on a mandoline and so typing is a bit awkward right now..BUT I WILL SOLDIER ON, FOR THE GOD OF THE INTERNETS.
Let's ease into it with the photos that have been inspiring, fascinating and delighting me right now:
1. Kat Bjelland (Babes In Toyland in general, really)
2. Bass Loves Rachel Antonoff red n white penny loafers (spring dreams)
3. Miss Piggy's 80s Working Girl Realness
4. NICKI MINAJ'S ASS. I mean.
5. J. Crew brown leather Atlee skirt (Christmas list?!?)
6. Amnesia Kermit giving Steven Alan Realness 7. Eyelet bra by Baszaroza
8.Celapiubraided shrug (crafternoon??)
9. Ernie the Bunny bag, Mandy Coon x Of A Kind (I am a giddy proud owner of one of these, post to come!!)
That was relatively painless! And fun! OH BLOG, I missed you so!!!
I was so jazzed on how my lil paper PS1 came out last week that I have decided to step it up a notch and render my favorite bags of the SS11 season in my current medium of choice: construction paper ! The colors of the season are perfect for it.
First love love love of the Spring 2011 accessories: The striped canvas Prada weekender.
Materials: drugstore construction paper, scissors, glue stick, Scotch tape, black felt tip pen. I worked off of style.com pics.
Amount of time spent: 2 episodes of Law & Order: SVU on Hulu (approx 90 mins. Not a bad Sunday night activity!)
The finished product! PS: the clasp opens (one of my self-imposed rules of the project) !
I'm really pretty happy with it, I think this is my new favorite pastime.
Mom and Dad, don't worry about me anymore, I found my calling: paper accessory maker, it's gonna be my big moneymaker!
What bag should I do next?!?!!? I have a huge folder of candidates on my desktop...
After marathoning 89 episodes of the Larry Sanders Show,Rip Torn was really elevated to megahero status in my eyes. Everything he says makes me laugh; he's the best grizzled old perv around.
Which is why I was so taken aback to learn that he was a complete Jack Nicholson clone aka hot as hell back in the ol' roarin' Seventies, which was made evident to me when I watched him sing country songs, get drunk n' high, and bang a lot in the 1973 movie Payday.
Did you know he was that fantastically and side-burnedly handsome?!? I had no idea! HEY NOW!
Um..Ican't say I thought the movie was great. It was pretty gnarly and depressing, and actually more than a lil boring (??!) but god I LOVE the colors of the 1970s.
The clothes, the landscape, the interiors, the SKINTONE..it was all so much more VIBRANT! That alone can keep me going.
Can you stand it?
Give me avocado tones, wood panels and violet floral butterfly collars any day. Actually, the movie looks pretty great in still form.
Here was one of the few small moments of hilarity, with a strange interlude of FUNKY scoring. I swear the rest of the time he was just drunk and ruining lives.
I am in a weird outfit zone these days.
I was taking my office hours with L. Arfin, Esquire last week and we rewarded ourselves with a quick stop in to Stella Dallas, where this perfect heather grey sweatshirt seduced me into purchasing it, and talked me into wearing it every day. With tulip skirts. And fancy shoes.
It's an interesting plane of consciousness. Everything looks better with heather grey.
PS, I thought EROTIC STATE was a real college for a minute.
Wait..is it a real college? IN MY DREAMS?
I don't know if it's the flip flopping weather or just routine ennui but I feel disenchanted with most of my wardrobe. Am I just going through some kind of psychological change in my life?
PPS This movie never gets old. If you have NOT seen it yet then we can't be friends again until you do.
PPPS I am wearing this sweatshirt as I write this. I am nothing if not fully committed to this odd little item.
Lauren Moffatt has dubbed her SS11 collection "The Honeymooner (And What She Packed)" and I have to tell you it just tickles me. It's soooo 60s bride!!! (My favorite character to play, and one of the wishes I'll make once that genie lamp shows up. I'll keep ya posted.)
I loved stopping by the studio, as there is a wealth of cute babies and dogs, and Lauren herself who is a delight. I really do have a deep love for all of LM's collections, but this one was so so particularly ME:
The colors and prints are completely in step with how I want my wardrobe: vintage-y girlyness full of color, color, color in all manner of skirts and dresses and dresses and skirts.
I'm particularly taken with the green tiny floral print, the electric pink skirt, the thickly embroidered pink n white daisy pieces and my personal perfect perfect perfection item: the ice blue silk cape (with gold embroidered lining!!!). I will wear that on my wedding day, and I will be ecstatic. Well, my wedding day or a trip to Trader Joes. Really, anywhere.
