Today's Special: Vintage Favorites

Sometimes I wonder if you could partially see through me if the lights were bright enough

REVERSIBLE LEATHER & SUEDE CROCHET PATCHWORK JACKET: Vintage  //  PSYCHEDELIC COTTON DRESS: Thrift  //  VAMPIRIC PAPER-WHITE PALLOR: courtesy of Netflix Instant (S1-4 of FNL to be specific)

I wear this dress backwards, back to front (like Isaac Mizrahi's mom). I like the zipper down the front better than a high neck. I've had it for about 5 years and I am still not sick of it, although people who see me someone often might be (sowwy)

Would our faces look better without noses?

Currently Into: A Bunch A Shiz

A few things in my life that I currently have a keen interest in:

1. REAL MAIL!
You can send it to me here, if you like.

2. TRIPLE SOLE CREEPERS.
I bought these in LA a few weeks ago. They are VERY WEIRD, I fully understand that. I figured if I was not going to get Prada flatforms (I have put myself on a spending HIATUS)..I would go for the direct reference instead. UK label supefat CREEPERS! People give you the EYE when you wear these, I gotta tell ya.

3. GETTING WEIRD ON VIDEO CHATS
Mainly just with my boyfriend. Who is the most fun person to be weird with so I guess it makes sense. (T-shirt courtesy of SOPHOMORE.)

 4. STICK N POKES
Last week I got a little rowdy with my best friends from high school...after 3 Mezcal cocktails we thought it would GENIUS to give each other homemade tattoos?!?! We only made it as far as tattooing Ted. I gotta say...it was RILLY RILLY FUN. I may have discovered a new talent ?!?!?

 5. FINGER ARMOR
I realize this is not a new trend in rings but I just feel really smitten with this lil guy. I bought him on the street in lower Manhattaaa for about 10 bucks. I feel automatically tougher when I wear it?

6. ADIDAS WARM UP JACKETS
I was at work superlate one night and did you know that CHAMPS is open til midnight in Times Square? Well it is. And I wandered in, felt compelled to buy a warm up jacket, and wandered out. It's my new cardigan replacement (maybe not really, but I would like it to be?)- my fave way to wear it is with my overalls minidress and white Magiela clogs

7. BESAME 'RED HOT' LIPSTICK
Bought this on my ladydate with Marie a few weeks ago..it's my now preferred red. The tube is a gold old vintage bullet shape and it comes in a little red velvet pouch, it's so VERY.

Today's Special: Veda Jacket & Pattern Mix

I had the fortune to get a lovely little package in the mail from VEDA..Inside was a motorcycle style jacket, but made out of sheer black material, with big fat silver zippers and snaps, and soft black leather sleeves. I don't own anything like it, and I love it love it LOVE IT. I've been wearing it over all my dresses and it looks good with every skirt. I'm not exaggerating, freals.

One thing that is strange about this lil ensemble here...nothing in this outfit is vintage. That feels really strange! I guess it happens sometimes?

Musical Appreciation: The Flys / Got You Where I Want You

I am getting REALLY FUCKING DEEP into the "Cheesy ALTERNATIVE Radio Hits of The 90s" scene.. blame Preston, who made the most perfect PERFECT mix of said HITS for our road trip to Madonna Inn last month...Since then I cant stop! I can't..The Toadies! Spacehog! I MEAN.

THIS JAM was brought back into my mind-hole by my friend Alex P..I mean this was the lead single off of the DISTURBING BEHAVIOR soundtrack.

KATIE HOLMES IN SPAGHETTI STRAPS Y'ALL, aint nothin gettin more late 90s than THAT (except maybe Buffy Summers in angora crop tops)

Get into it you nostalgia whores, you (read: me).

Crafternoon: Old Chair Is Sorta New

I live like a real grown-up now, you guys. I have furniture and stuff on the walls and I like having people over because I have NICE(ish) THINGS.

I've learned I have a bit of an addiction to chairs.
As you can imagine this is a bit of an issue in Manhattan apartment living.

They are all vintage and all have various odd prints and patterns and I like them all a lot.

Last weekend my aunt and uncle had a garage sale and I spied a pair of rattan arm chairs that were my parents'..they were in our apartment when I was a baby (I remember them really clearly- in the living room, on either side of the glass and wood coffee table- that I broke when I was 8 and tried to make an indoor slide BUTS THAT'S ANOTHER STORY) and we had them somewhere in some room of whatever house we lived in forever after that.

I assume my aunt & uncle inherited them when my parents moved back to Manhattan 10 years ago but who knows..the point is that I saw them and couldn't let them be someone's else's.

BEFORE (can you stand the suspense?

There are some broken rattan bits but the burnt orange velour seats are in impeccable condition..The label underneath says GIMBEL'S (can ya stand it?). As much as I love everything 70's, even I needed to excitebike up this situation right here.

Enter IKEA fabric, and IKEA pillow and some safety pins.

ET VOILA:

AFTER...and SO AWESOME

This was all technically FREE because the pillow came of of my couch (I have 2) and the fabric has been hanging around in my closet for a year.

I could have pulled my sewing machine out and turned this fun project into a chore but I DIDNT..I safety pinned that shiz and got it done in about 5 mins.
But I did do it it real reupholster styles- notched corners and folded tight. Just don't flip that cushion over or we got issues, mmkay?

SO INTO MY APARTMENT THESE DAYS, GUIZE

Recent Acquisition: Henrik Vibskov boots

Sometimes I lose time.

You know, like...you go to California and you're all high on life and then work is kinda bananz and then you just don't really update your blog at all and then you go back to California and Creatures of Comfort is having a 50% off sale and you don't really wanna buy anything but then you walk out with these:

..and they're so fucking weird that it inspires you to start blogging again.

So here we are! Me and you (and you- yeah, you) and all of us.

Just us and these Henrik Vibskov hiking boots on a flamboyant, yet patriotic, acid trip.
Fact: They are the most comfortable shoes I currently own.

They give me the a really attractive air of a Clydesdale.
